On Monday the 20th December, the British Council invited Mr A Wallis to attend an awards ceremony to represent Ysgol Dinas Brân at The Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London. The International Schools Awards ceremony was hosted by James Asser MP, to celebrate the achievements of schools across the UK in developing their international links and curriculum. The ISA award is the highest accreditation that the British Council offer in recognition of outstanding educational practice and as such, it is awarded to schools on a three-year basis. Mr A Wallis was accompanied by our MP Becky Gittens, to celebrate the success and achievements of the staff and pupils of Ysgol Dinas Brân in the field of international education, to which this award recognises. Both Mr A Wallis and Becky Gittens MP were the proud flag bearers for Wales as Ysgol Dinas Brân was the only Welsh school represented at the awards. The British Council are now looking to do a case study of our sector leading practice. Mr A Wallis stated “I was filled with pride to be at the Houses of Parliament, at the heart of British democracy, with senior representatives of the British Council, the British government, alongside our MP Becky Gittens, celebrating all of our schools hard work and success. It is a fantastic achievement to which the whole school community should rightly celebrate as we live up to Llangollen’s moto, of where ‘Wales Welcomes the World’. Da Iawn Ysgol Dinas Brân!’
