Llangollen International Eisteddfod Event with Dr Cymraeg 15/10/25
Yesterday, on Shwmae Su’mae Day, staff and Sixth Form Welsh students took part in an inspiring event led by the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in collaboration with Dr Cymraeg. The session celebrated the Welsh language and culture, offering students a wonderful opportunity to engage with the spirit of the Eisteddfod and the importance of using Welsh in everyday life.
It was a busy community event and all involved explored the role of the Welsh language in shaping identity and promoting Wales’ cultural heritage worldwide. Students also learned how the Eisteddfod continues to champion creativity, inclusivity, and pride in the Welsh language on an international stage - and all are encouraged to volunteer to support the Eisteddfod.
The event was both enjoyable and educational, and it was a fitting way to mark Shwmae Su’mae Day — encouraging everyone to say “Shwmae!” and start every conversation in Cymraeg - and to celebrate being part of a vibrant bilingual community in Llangollen. Amdani Llangollen! Diolch
