Four pupils from our Sixth Form had cause for celebration in January following the news that their application to either Oxford or Cambridge University had been successful.
Bethan Morris, not pictured, (Medicine at Homerton College, Cambridge), and Elinor McSorley, (Biomedical Sciences at Magdalen College, Oxford) have both received unconditional offers having already completed their A levels a year early. Jessica Brown, (Maths at Somerville College, Oxford and Carys Stallard, (English at Churchill College, Cambridge) have been offered places conditional upon their A level results which they take this summer.
Mr Martyn Froggett said, “ We are very proud of the achievements of these four students who exemplify the school motto of Success Through Effort. Not only have they all studied extremely hard, but they also contribute to the wider life of the school through their involvement in our many extra-curricular activities. We wish them all the very best”.
In addition many more of our year 13 students have applied to Universities around the country and are receiving offers through UCAS. Considerable work goes in to ensuring that each student finds the right course and university for them. Support and guidance is given to ensure personal statements are both honest and of a high quality, and the teaching staff all contribute to the school reference which is written for each applicant by our Head of Sixth form, Mr A. Derbyshire. Students also receive detailed information about student finance to alleviate any concerns they might have in this area.
As we approach the exam season each and every one of our sixth form students is working hard to achieve their best possible results in both AS level and A level exams.
